A military tribunal’s death sentences for car theft were carried out by firing squad in Ilorin, reflecting the administration’s reliance on severe punishments and public deterrence as part of its anti-crime posture.
Musician and activist Fela Anikulapo Kuti was arrested at the airport as he was about to travel, becoming one of the best-known critics targeted during the Buhari–Idiagbon period’s broader repression of dissent.
