The Zionist Commission was reorganized into the Palestine Zionist Executive, which was designated the Jewish Agency for purposes of Article 4 of the Palestine Mandate—formalizing advisory/cooperative functions with the Mandate administration on matters of Jewish interest.
In 1929, the Jewish Agency was established as an expanded representative body (including non-Zionist participation), becoming the principal institution representing the Yishuv internationally and in Mandate-era governance and diplomacy.
