Chenla polities emerge from Funan’s orbit
Labels: Chenla, FunanBy the mid-6th century, Chinese writers began using the name Zhenla (Chenla) for inland Mekong-region rulers who had earlier been connected to Funan’s trade-centered network in the Mekong Delta. This marks the start of a new phase in which power was increasingly organized around multiple local courts rather than a single Funan center.
