Galerie am Moritzplatz founded in West Berlin
Labels: Galerie am, Neue Wilde, KreuzbergA group of young Berlin artists founded the artist-run Galerie am Moritzplatz in Kreuzberg. The space helped launch what became known as the Neue Wilde (“New Wild Ones”), a German form of neo-expressionism that favored bold color, fast brushwork, and recognizable subjects. This local infrastructure mattered because it gave the movement an early base outside established museums and commercial galleries.
