Shoom launches London’s acid house scene
Labels: Shoom, Danny RamplingIn late 1987, DJ Danny Rampling and Jenni Rampling started Shoom, a small all-night club event in a Southwark basement. Its focus on imported Chicago house records, a Balearic (Ibiza-influenced) feel, and an unusually friendly dancefloor became a model for later rave culture. Shoom is widely credited as a key starting point for the UK’s acid house movement.
