Labels: Paris salons, Regency FranceAfter Louis XIV’s death (1715), Paris high society increasingly used salons—regular hosted gatherings—for conversation, reading, and introductions between writers, nobles, and officials. Salons also became informal “markets” where authors sought protection, jobs, and paying subscribers.
