Old Kingdom royal sistrum linked to Hathor
Labels: King Teti, Naos sistrum, HathorA surviving naos (shrine)-shaped sistrum inscribed for King Teti (Dynasty 6) shows the instrument already had a formal ritual role by the late Old Kingdom. The inscription connects the king to Hathor (“Lady of Dendara”), highlighting how sistra could be used in state religion as well as temple worship. This object also shows an early form of the naos sistrum design that continued for many centuries.
