On September 21, 1926, the band returned to record more sides in Chicago, including "Sidewalk Blues." These follow-up recordings showed that the September 15 session was not a one-time experiment, but the start of a sustained series. On December 16, 1926, Morton recorded another group of Red Hot Peppers titles in Chicago, including his band version of "Original Jelly-Roll Blues" and "Someday Sweetheart." These recordings mixed Morton's own compositions with widely known songs, showing how he could apply his arranging approach to different kinds of material. The session also helped Victor build a steady release schedule from the group’s output.
On June 10, 1927, Morton and the Red Hot Peppers recorded an instrumental version of W. C. Handy’s "Beale Street Blues" in Chicago. The choice of a well-known song connected the band’s work to popular music audiences while still highlighting early jazz ensemble interplay. The recording became part of the core set of Red Hot Peppers sides from the Chicago period.
After the Chicago run, Morton moved to New York and continued recording for Victor with changing personnel. This shift mattered because it tested whether Morton's concept—arranged ensemble jazz built around his piano and compositions—could continue outside the original Chicago-based lineup. The later Red Hot Peppers sides show continuity in approach, even as the musicians changed.
On June 11, 1928, Morton recorded in New York with the Red Hot Peppers, including "Kansas City Stomps." Compared with the earlier Chicago sides, this period reflects Morton's effort to keep his sound current while staying rooted in earlier New Orleans ensemble ideas. The recordings also show Victor’s continued interest in documenting Morton's work during a fast-changing jazz scene.
Also on June 11, 1928, Morton recorded additional pieces such as "Shreveport Stomp" and "Shoe Shiner’s Drag." Together, these sides expanded the Red Hot Peppers catalog beyond the 1926–1927 Chicago sound. They document Morton refining his formula—clear themes, planned breaks, and coordinated ensemble lines—during his New York period.
On July 8, 1929, Morton recorded in Camden, New Jersey, including "Seattle Hunch" (paired with "Freakish" on releases). By this time, jazz styles were shifting quickly, and Morton was working to keep his catalog active at Victor. The recording shows him continuing to put his stamp on new material as the Red Hot Peppers era moved toward its final phase.
On November 13, 1929, Morton recorded Red Hot Peppers titles in New York including "Sweet Peter" (and also "Jersey Joe" the same day). These sessions are part of the late-period output where the personnel and the recording context differed from the original Chicago band. They help show how Morton tried to carry his arranging-centered approach into the end of the 1920s.
On March 5, 1930, Morton recorded more sides in New York as the Red Hot Peppers project continued into the new decade. The session reflects a reality of the time: jazz was becoming more standardized around larger dance orchestras, yet Morton still recorded smaller-group performances under his name. On July 14, 1930, Morton recorded in New York again, including titles such as "Blue Blood Blues" (often associated with his later Red Hot Peppers lineups). These late recordings serve as a closing chapter to the 1926–1930 Red Hot Peppers sessions, documenting Morton’s continued focus on composed structures, arranged ensemble passages, and carefully shaped solos. After 1930, the Red Hot Peppers recording series effectively ends as Morton’s recording opportunities narrowed in the early 1930s.
