First recorded Olympic victor sets historical baseline
Labels: Koroibos of, Stadion raceLater ancient lists of Olympic victors (such as those preserved through Eusebius) begin with Koroibos of Elis, winner of the stadion (a short footrace) in 776 BCE. This "first recorded" winner became the starting point for counting Olympiads (four-year cycles). Establishing this baseline matters because Spartan victors are tracked through these same victor lists.
