First orchestra terrace laid out in sanctuary
Labels: Dionysus Eleuthereus, Acropolis SouthOn the south slope of the Acropolis, an early performance space was formed inside the sanctuary of Dionysus Eleuthereus. Archaeology points to an early orchestra terrace built in the mid-to-late 6th century BCE, before any permanent stone seating. This marks the physical starting point of the Theatre of Dionysus site.
