Labels: ASEAN, CMLVFrom 1984 through 1999, ASEAN expanded from its original core to include Brunei, Viet Nam, Lao PDR, Myanmar, and Cambodia. This widened the region’s labor and resource base and increased cross-border development differences inside ASEAN. Over time, these differences shaped how integration schedules were designed, with longer transition periods for newer members.
