Eudoxus uses monsoon route to India
Labels: Eudoxus of, Arabian Sea, Monsoon routeGreek navigator Eudoxus of Cyzicus is reported (via later writers such as Strabo) to have sailed from Roman-era Egypt to India using the monsoon wind system. This story is important because it shows that open-sea crossings across the Arabian Sea were becoming practical before Rome took over Egypt. Later Roman–India maritime trade built on this knowledge of seasonal winds and sea lanes.
