Ahrensburgian reindeer hunters range into Scandinavia
Labels: Ahrensburgian culture, Reindeer hunters, Southern ScandinaviaIn the late Upper Paleolithic, Ahrensburgian groups hunted reindeer across northern Europe during the Younger Dryas. Archaeological finds show Ahrensburgian sites in southern and western Scandinavia as well as areas that are now submerged under the North and Baltic seas. This helps explain how people were already familiar with high-latitude landscapes before full Mesolithic coastal settlement expanded.
