Bell Beaker phase ends across western Europe
Labels: Beaker phenomenon, Western Europe, Early BronzeBy around 1800 BCE, Beaker pottery and related burial styles had largely disappeared, replaced by distinct regional Early Bronze Age cultures in different areas. Even where the Beaker “look” faded, its legacy remained in long-distance connections, early metallurgy, and lasting population changes documented by ancient DNA. In this sense, the Beaker phenomenon ends as a recognizable package, but helps explain why western Europe looks culturally and genetically different entering the Bronze Age.
