Monte Verde II confirms pre-Clovis settlement
Labels: Monte Verde, Southern ChileExcavations at Monte Verde II in southern Chile produced strong evidence for human occupation well before the widespread Fishtail/Fell point era. Its accepted dates (around 14,550–14,500 calibrated years BP) helped shift research toward earlier coastal and interior movements into South America. This provides important background for how later, more widespread tool traditions could spread quickly across the continent.
