Progress M-01M (ISS designation 31P) docked as the first Progress with the upgraded Progress-M (often called Progress M-M) design. This series introduced modernized digital systems compared with earlier versions, aiming for improved performance and reliability.
Progress M-12M (ISS designation 44P) was lost after its Soyuz-U rocket suffered a third-stage problem and the spacecraft failed to reach orbit. The failure tested ISS logistics planning, but partners stated the station had enough reserves while flights were investigated and resumed.
Progress M-14M docked with the ISS after using a faster rendezvous plan than the traditional two-day approach. Shorter transit times helped deliver time-sensitive cargo sooner and reduced the time a vehicle spent flying independently before docking.
Progress M-27M launched successfully but suffered major problems after separation, leaving it unable to rendezvous and dock with the ISS. The spacecraft ultimately reentered uncontrolled, and the investigation led to changes before normal resupply operations resumed.
Progress MS-01 (ISS designation 62P) docked as the first mission of the Progress MS series, which introduced multiple upgrades including navigation and communications improvements. This series continued the long-term role of Progress as a primary ISS cargo and reboost vehicle.
Progress MS-04 (ISS designation 65P) failed during launch and did not reach orbit, becoming another test of the ISS supply chain. By this time, the station’s logistics system was more diverse, helping reduce the operational impact of a single vehicle loss.
Progress MS-19 (ISS designation 80P) docked at the ISS, continuing the steady cadence of Progress MS resupply flights in the 2020s. Missions in this period delivered not only food and equipment but also propellants used to support station attitude control and orbit maintenance.
Progress MS-21 (ISS designation 82P) docked successfully at the ISS and delivered cargo for Expedition crews. Later, a coolant leak on MS-21 became a major operations issue, highlighting how visiting vehicles can affect planning even after a normal docking.
Progress MS-22 (ISS designation 83P) docked to deliver another load of supplies, while teams also tracked the coolant leak issue affecting the previously docked MS-21. The overlap showed how Progress missions are part of a continuous chain, where anomalies can carry over into later operations.
Progress MS-24 (ISS designation 85P) docked to the aft port of the Zvezda service module with cargo and consumables. It later departed in February 2024, reflecting the routine pattern of months-long docked stays followed by destructive reentry disposal after being loaded with waste.
Progress MS-25 (ISS designation 86P) docked at the ISS to continue cargo delivery and station support operations. Frequent port changes across modules like Poisk and Zvezda show how traffic management is central to keeping resupply flowing.
Progress MS-26 (ISS designation 87P) docked after MS-24 undocked, continuing the handoff pattern that keeps docking ports available and supplies continuous. These missions also help maintain the ISS orbit by using their engines for reboost maneuvers.
Progress MS-27 (ISS designation 88P) docked at the ISS in June 2024, representing the last Progress resupply mission within the requested 1998–2024 scope. By this stage, the Progress MS series had become a mature workhorse for routine cargo delivery, station support, and end-of-mission waste disposal.
