Maiden Soyuz rocket launches Kosmos 133
Labels: Soyuz 11A511, Kosmos 133, BaikonurThe first Soyuz (11A511) rocket flew from Baikonur carrying the uncrewed Soyuz spacecraft known publicly as Kosmos 133. The mission showed the new launcher could reach orbit, but spacecraft control problems ended the flight early and it was destroyed during reentry planning. This flight still marked the practical start of the Soyuz launcher line that would become a workhorse for Soviet crewed and station missions.
